My brother lost his first son to the vitamin k shot given at birth. Baby was born healthy. Died hours after the shot. I now have 3 beautiful children and do not want to "chance" losing or harming any of them. My parents chose not to vaccinate me or my 5 siblings. We are all now in our 30s and 40s. All very healthy with NO issues what so ever.

I do not believe that healthcare choices should be made by the government. I believe that any choices should be made between a person or family and their doctor. Science has proven that vaccines can and do work in guarding and preventing illnesses and epidemics but science has also proven that everyone is different and can have varying reactions to a vaccine. With the current set up of a legislating body setting healthcare mandates I believe you are doing more harm than good in forcing children to take something that can endanger their life. Just because something is good for one doesn't mean that it's good for all. Parents should have the right to work with a doctor and find what is best for the child. I am not anti vaccine. I believe that if we can protect our children we should but not at the expense of unnecessarily endangering others.

We just moved here not realizing crossing the state line into Mississippi meant we would lose our christian parental right to make a choice based on our religious belief concerning vaccines. I am seriously considering packing my family up to relocate to our other home in another state that gives me my religious freedom. I believe all families should be allowed to choose a religious philosophical exemption from vaccines. No government should be allowed to force vaccines or with old their free public education.

I am a professional that relocated here by choice. I moved my family from another State to Mississippi. I did not realize your vaccine laws were different from the majority of other states. This never crossed my mind as a possibility. I will be forced to relocate my family if this law doesn't change. Families should have a right to a religious philosophical exemption. I will not allow my rights as a christian parent to be stripped away.

Please give parents the right to decide whether to vaccinate their child. I would like my children to be able to let their children have the alternative vaccine schedule. I think the vaccines need to be spread out. We are giving infants to many shots at a very young age. We have more children with ADHD and autism than ever before because of vaccines. These children also should be allowed to go to daycare and school without all those vaccines.

There is no one that knows my child better than I do. Vaccination isnt a one size fits all issue. Everyone's genetic make up is different so what may not affect one child could affect another. Stripping away my fundamental rights as a parent is unconstitutional and only serves to create mistrust and anger between citizens and government. I am not anti vaccine. I am however pro choice and only ask that my rights as a parent not be infringed on. Doing so is tyranny by the government and where would the line be drawn?

Dear Mr. Burton & Mr. Rushing: I am asking for your support in passing the bill for vaccine rights. I have researched immunity & vaccines thoroughly as I am a biology teacher at East Central Community College. It concerns me that MS has the largest population of vaccinated children, but we lead the nation in infant mortality. We are also the sickest. I have spoken with a school nurse in this area, and she tells me that she has never seen so many sick kids. Autism, Attention Deficit Disorder, and a host of many other learning disorders are more than common at our local schools. I am also concerned that the pharmaceutical industries are protected. You, by law, cannot sue them. Because of this, there is no accountability for their mistakes. Vaccines are not a 1 size fits all. Penicillin is a great example of this. This was a great antibiotic, but not everyone can take it. The individuals that were allergic to this antibiotic found out AFTER they were injected with it. This is what we are seeing with vaccines. We don't know how it will affect our children until after they are injected. Also, we do not know what is sitting in our gene pool. The metals, such a mercury and aluminum, that are found in vaccines we know are toxic. No one knows what this is doing to us on the cellular or sub cellular level. An even scarier aspect of vaccines is that doctors are not taught in med school how to diagnose these reactions. This is one reason why many vaccine injuries are not reported. As a mother of a 10 month old, I am hesitant to put my child in public daycare due to all of the shots that are required upon admittance. Newton County has a great school system, but I am concerned about the amount of vaccines that are mandated before she can start Kindergarten, and because of this my husband and I are looking at homeschooling. Please consider giving the citizens of Mississippi freedom to choose what is best for their children. I appreciate each of you. Sincerely, Sharli Daigle

My grandson was vaccine injured, and this opened my eyes that these vaccines can do more harm than good. We as parents need choices in our state to choose what is best for our kids. The bulk of these vaccines is destroying the health of our babies. Please give us choices like all the other states have. Our children deserve better than this. Please listen to us!

I believe that vaccines have a place in a healthy society. In fact, my children are vaccinated. We invested a large amount of time in researching vaccines and chose to vaccinate my daughters with most, but not all, of the recommended vaccines. Due to my conviction as a mother and my family's history, however, we also chose to follow an alternative vaccination schedule instead of putting our children through so many injections at one time. My children received one vaccine at an appointment and then we waited at least a month before giving the next vaccine to allow their immune systems to have the most benefit from the shot as well as having the ability to more clearly monitor what vaccine may have caused a reaction if one takes place. I believe that our society should encourage mothers to be involved and invested in their children's healthcare on all fronts, instead of relying on people not directly involved in their lives to take on the responsibility of those choices. These children are the most precious gifts in our lives, and we, as parents, are the ones who will live with the reality of our choices for our children - not the doctors, legislators, chemists, researchers, or pharmaceutical reps. Doesn't it make sense that we would want to do what is best for each of our children? No two people are the same. Parents should have the right to make the choices that they feel best for each of their children. Education, freedom, and responsibility are vital to our society on all fronts, including the healthcare of our children.
